CLIVE CROUCH
Sales And Marketing Director, GMTV
I began my career at Ulster Television in the 1970's in their London office. After four years I joined London Weekend Television in the position of Sales Executive. London was the only competitive ITV market and LWT gained the respect of the industry for their selling ability, reflected in the achievements under the legendary Ron Miller. I spent eight years with the company, rising through the ranks to Group Sales Manager.
In 1983 I left to join Tony Vickers at TV-am in the position of Group Sales Manager within the relaunched sales department. After two and a half years of fear, fun and ultimately reward, I left to join Scottish Television in October 1985.
I was appointed Sales Controller of Scottish in February 1988 and resigned on 15 January 1992 at a time that the company had achieved its third consecutive year of revenue and share growth, its best position for many years, that has yet to be superceded.
On 1 March 1992 I joined GMTV as Sales & Marketing Director. GMTV remains market leader on both weekdays and weekends at breakfast time. In 2006 GMTV was awarded the sales contract for the launch of the CiTV Channel. As of October 2007 I have been Acting Chief Operating Officer for GMTV.
I have three children and live in the Republic of Essex. I am a keen and active veteran footballer. Skiing and off road cycling occupy the rest of my sporting time.
