MAHMOUD ORFALI

Mahmoud also heads the external productions departments at Al Jazeera Children’s.  He started at JCC in 2005 as a TV Director, directing debate programmes, magazines & game shows. From Sept 2005 – 2008 he has directed the Doha Debates staged by the Qatar Foundation which broadcasts monthly on the BBC World Service with Tim Sebastian.   

He became a TV director in 1994 and founder of the first Children's program unit in the Arab world in Abu Dhabi TV in 1998 (Live action, Puppets & songs).  He was script writer & director of Docu-drama Jobran Khalil jobran  for Arte in 1999.  He won the best scenography in Cairo international experimental theatrical festival in 1993 with The secret Pocket/Sihem Nasser.  He was a performer and creator of 5 children's plays with Al-Sanabel Group (1990-1993) which toured throughout the Arab world to schools and refugee camps. 

Mahmoud graduated from the Beaux Arts Institute of Beirut in the Drama/Theatre section with high distinction in theatrical performance in 1991 and joined the MFA Program in Brunel University 1996.
