PROF. BARRIE GUNTER
Professor of Mass Communications, University of Leicester

A trained psychologist, Barrie worked for fifteen years in the broadcasting sector.  He was Head of Research at the Independent Broadcasting Authority and Independent Television Commission.  In 1994, he moved to the University of Sheffield, co-founding the new Department of Journalism Studies, and serving as Director of Research.  He joined Leicester in 2005 and is head of the Department of Media and Communication. 

He has written over forty books and more than 250 journal papers, chapters and reports on the media.
